Memories forever!!!!!!
by John Keeler

Note:  I had the pleasure of guiding John Keeler and his son Scott on the Atlantic Ocean and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel on January 5th and 6th, 2005.  John was nice enough to write this report.

Had Hill Billy Boater and Rattletrap drop me off at the Days Inn in VA Beach last Sunday on our return from OI.

Mon AM I went out with Capt. Tom Hughes, Capt. Frank and Reds.
There was not much action happening around Rudee Inlet area, so we headed north to CBBT and immediately got into large schools of VA DINKS. it was constant steady pullage for several hours.

Tue. AM we left Rudee and Tom wanted to head South. Capt Frank, Reds and I took a vote and said we wanted to head to CBBT. Tom pleaded his case and said that he only wanted to head a short distance south. As we were passing in front of the Golf Ball we marked some nice schools of bait and fish. There were no birds. We dropped our jigs on them and Capt. Frank offered them Streamers with his fly rod and had instantaneous action for about two hours. I managed to catch my personal best, a 41" fish that weighed 30#.

When we got back on Tuesday to the Days Inn, I was met by my son Scott who had driven 10 hours from Lake Luzerne, NY to join me and Tom to fish Wed. and Thu.

On Wed. morning Tom took Scott and I out in front of the Golf Ball where we cleaned house the day before. The bait schools had broke up and the fish had moved on. The reports from the South were sparse, so we headed to the CBBT. Again we got into huge schools of fish. I even managed to hook into a huge fish that eventually pulled the hook. On Thursday Scott said that he enjoyed catching those 20" to 26" fish so much that he wanted to do it again. For those two days , Scott and I managed to catch several hundred fish . A SPECIAL THANKS TO MY GOOD FRIEND CAPTAIN TOM HUGHES FOR MAKING THIS POSSIBLE
On Friday morning, Scott and I made the long drive back to Mechanicsburg. All he could talk about was how we could do this next November.
This morning Scott left Mechanicsburg for his 6 1/2 hour drive home to Lake Luzerne. I just got a call from him that he arrived home safely.

What a week!!!!!!
