Not a Bad Day After All

I didn’t get on the water until noon today (6-3-06) and fished until 4:30pm.  The upper Bay looked baron by the time I got to 7 Foot Knoll.  The seas were rough rolling 3 to 4 foot waves constantly.  For safety sake I moved back into the tributary before looking for some productive structures.

I searched for the cleanest water and located some on top of an old oyster bay.  The first fish was a white perch that was caught on a 3/4 ounce Hopkins Shorty silver spoon.  Within a few minutes I was catching plenty of small striped bass while jigging the bottom.

I moved off the oyster bar into deeper waters and started catching keeper size stripers up to 28”.  The most productive lure was an albino 10” Bass Kandy Delight fished on a 1 1/2 ounce Bass Assassin wide gap jighead.  The water temperature was 77.6 degrees and the current was incoming and moving swiftly during the bite.

Tight Lines,

Capt. Tom Hughes
