Light Tackle Catching on the Chesapeake Bay

John Keeler and I arrived at the ramp today, June 1, 2007 around 8:30 am.  The sun was up and warm as we rounded the the point going to the 1st structure we planned to fish.  The water was 31.6 feet deep and the current was just starting to ebb.  There were a lot of marks on the fish finder which appeared to be small baitfish, but at that time we didn't know the species.  Later in the day we discovered they were striped bass in the 8 inch class.

Water temperatures ranged from 69 to 72.4 degrees in the areas we fished.  The water was clear with no signs of any red tide.
