Captain Tom,

I want to share a story with you.

My name is Mike Robertson.  I fished with you at the CBBT on November 18th and 19th this year, with Shawn Kimbro.  If you can remember, Saturday I was having problems with my equipment.  Sunday was a better day for me using your equipment.  We had 2 great days of fishing.

I have been fishing all my life, bass fishing when I was young, and then mostly bottom fishing in my later years on the bay.  In 2000 I moved to Baltimore for college and I have been LTJ the bay ever since.  I have always considered myself a good fisherman.  Most who have fished with me will say the same thing.  Our trip with you was my first ever guided LTJ trip anywhere.

Yesterday, December 11th, I was at the CBBT with Shawn Kimbro aboard his boat with his friend Rick.  I showed up with 2 Daiwa Exceler 2500's spooled with 25 pound power pro and 20lb fluorocarbon leaders.

I was the first to hookup, and I was catching more fish than Shawn and Rick.  I am not one to brag, but it is the truth.  I put the biggest fish in the boat and the most.

It wasn't until now that I realized everything I've been doing until this point has been wrong.  The equipment you use is just as important as your technique.  I brought along one of my old rods, just to test.  I could not even feel the fish hit the lure.  Unless the fish hooked itself, it was impossible to catch a fish on my old outfits, they were entirely wrong for LTJ.

As the day went by, I just could not stop catching fish.  I used every technique that you taught me, right down to the knots you showed us.

Whenever you have clients on board, you really need to stress that equipment is so important and there is much more to LTJ that just vertical jigging a lure.  I didn't believe it, but I proved it on my own.

I just want to say thanks Captain Tom.  You really taught me allot of valuable techniques and now I am a better fisherman.

P.S. - I heard about your health conditions.  I hope you have a speedy recovery and you are back on the water soon!!

Sincerely,

Mike Robertson
